A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with an
assault on two teachers on a school playing field.
The physical education teachers were allegedly attacked by a
gang of five girls from another school as they took an athletics
lesson at Salendine Nook High School, Huddersfield, West
Yorkshire.
A police spokesman said the girls were aged between 14 and
16. There were no reports of injuries to the teachers.
He said: "The allegations are of an assault on two members of
staff by five children from another school.
"The police are in close contact with the school and the
education authority and are working together on an inquiry into
the incident."
The school's head teacher, Christine Spencer, said: "It was a
dreadful incident for the staff involved and for pupils at the
school, but the matter is now in the hands of the police and we
are expecting a prosecution."
The arrested girl has been released on police bail pending
further inquiries.
